I’ve read all of Alex Woodard’s other books, and this one threw me at first, mostly because of some of the chapter titles. But I’m stoked I gave Living Halfway a chance... under the occasional f-bomb is so much sensitivity, vulnerability, and truth. It’s like he wants you to find these diamonds he’s buried, which makes it an extremely satisfying (and funny) read.I almost missed there is an album, Start Making Me Laugh, that goes along with Living Halfway (just like his For the Sender series). The vulnerabilities uncovered in the book seem to go on full display in the album. The tenderness, beauty and raw emotion in these songs brings the book alive in such a meaning way.Loved both (the book and the album).
